Dr. Van Kien Nguyen is Director of Mekong Organics PTY LTD and honorary senior lecturer at Fenner School of Environment & Society, the Australian National University. He is the former Director of Research Center for Rural Development of An Giang University, Vietnam National University, HCM City. Kien is the former Luc Hoffmann Fellow from 2014-2016.

Kien graduated BSc in Land Management from Can Tho University (2000, Vietnam), Master of Environmental Management & Development (2006, ANU) and PhD in Sociology from the Australian National University (2012)

Dr Kien’s research focuses on agroecology, sustainable agriculture, and food security in the Mekong Region. He is the leading expert in floating rice conservation in Southeast Asia.
