Training in using AI in agriculture, fisheries and forestry for staff of Ca Mau Department of Agriculture & Environment

Following the successful series of seminars on using AI in marketing communication for university students and staff of Tien Giang University, Dong Thap University and An Giang University from 26 to 28 May 2025, Mekong Organics was invited by Climate Change Institute (CCI) of An Giang University (AGU) to deliver a series of training in (1) using AI in marketing communication and agriculture extension, (2) organic rice production and trade, (3) organic vegetables and fruit production and trade, for leaders of small-sized agribusinesses, agriculture cooperative and head or technical staff or agricultural extension services at District or Commune (new commune) levels across the Mekong Delta of Vietnam.

The Ca Mau Department of Agriculture and Environment sent a request to Mekong Organics and the Climate Change Institute (CCI) of An Giang University – Vietnam National University to deliver a training session on using AI for their professional staff, in the context of merging Ca Mau and Bac Lieu provinces, on July 1, 2025. This training is identified as a key opportunity for the Ca Mau Department of Agriculture and Environment to accelerate the adoption of digital solutions in agricultural, fisheries, and forestry extension.

The second cohort of the training will be co-hosted by the Ca Mau Department of Agriculture and Environment on 20 June 2025. Forty-six participants from the Sub-Department of Crop and Plant Protection, the Sub-Department of Fisheries, the Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry, the Sub-Department of Forestry, the Seed Centre, and extension centres for agriculture and fisheries will participate in the training.

The first course utilising AI (artificial intelligence) for agricultural extension and marketing communication was successfully co-hosted by the Climate Change Institute, Mekong Organics, and MITELAI JSC, based in Long Xuyen City. The participants will be the leaders of small-sized agribusinesses, cooperatives, and agricultural extension services at the District or Commune Levels. The training will take place at CCI-An Giang University, Vietnam National University, on June 8, 2025.

The following training in using AI for researchers, lecturers and students of Dong Thap College, Tien Giang University, and Bac Lieu University will be hosted in late June 2025.

The third cohort of training in organic rice production and trade will be hosted on the following dates. Please follow our Facebook (20+) Facebook and Zalo to register for the event. We will collaborate with Tan Dat Organic Rice Production and Services Cooperative in Trung Ngai Commune, Vung Liem District, Vinh Long Province.

The third and fourth cohorts of training in organic vegetable production, organic rice production, and trade will be advertised in the following weeks. We expect to open for registration in late August. The event will be hosted at Duc Tam Garden in O Mon District, Can Tho City.

The costs of participation will be covered by the Living Deltas Hub, which is managed by the Climate Change Institute at An Giang University.
