Founders of the Mekong Organics visited organic rice grower, the Tam Viet Farm, in the Mekong Delta
Dr Van Kien Nguyen, Dr Daniel Gilfillan, and local research partners: Mr Le Thanh Phong, Mr Vo Van Oc and Mr Le Quoc Viet visited Mr Vo Van Tieng, the founder of the Tam Viet ecological farm in Hong Ngu District of Dong Thap province, Mekong Delta, on 26 March 2018. We enjoy listening to the great story of the recovering agroecological farm in the floodplain of the Mekong Delta, the Plain of Reeds. Mr Tieng is developing an ecological rice based system that makes use of local resources, the flood benefits of the Mekong River Delta. He recovers wild fish stock, water birds, and native plants (medicinal plants) that support health lifestyle for local people and consumers. He inspired local students and young people across the country to visit. Some of them have stayed on his farm for volunteering, for years. Both men and women engaged in his local farm activities from land preparation, weeding and harvesting, and raising flying ducks for selling natural eggs to the consumers.
